The Good Butcher is the only butcher shop in the State of Iowa licensed to produce dry cured meats. We are passionate about making the highest quality cured meat with unbeatable flavors. We have partnered with an Italian spice company to source the highest quality ingredients so that you can bring the best flavors in the world to your next dinner party or family get-together.
Along with our cured meats, we have a rotating selection of pre-seasoned steaks, chops, and grill-ready marinades that will help you get a great tasting dinner on the table, faster.

Our goal is to connect you and your family with the farmers and companies that are making the right choices for how they raise, feed, and handle their animals. We work hard to know exactly where our meat is coming from and to choose suppliers and partners who are as committed as we are to producing clean and healthy proteins. When you walk into The Good Butcher, we know that you will be treated to the absolute best in customer service. We are dedicated to being a member at your dinner table and love to talk ingredients, recipes and meal ideas with you.
We love living in Des Moines and know that you do too. We are proud to partner with DMARC and other local food pantries to give back to this beautiful place and community. When you check out, instead of a tip screen, you will be given the choice to donate hamburger to DMARC in order to share locally sourced meat with our neighbors who otherwise wouldn't have access to it. Red meat is always one of the items in highest demand at local food pantries. Your donations will go directly to our friends and neighbors in need of help. We know that Iowa is a land of abundance, and we ask that you help us spread that abundance by choosing to donate when you check out.
